Deconstructing America: Rhetoric, Ideology and the Democratic experiment
In this project we were to choose a question that was being asked in the political world, such as "Should marijuana be legalized?" or "Should we have the right to bear arms?". Once we had picked our topic, we wrote an essay on our personal views of the topic before continuing to do research and gathering information about the arguments on both sides of the issue. When we were satisfied with the amount of research we had done, we had gone on to write an essay for each side of the argument, 'for' and 'against' . This way we were educated on both sides of the issue before firmly picking a stance. Once we were done we were to create some sort of representation of our views and write a reflection of the entire project. As the goal of the project was learning the benefits of hearing out both sides and engaging in respectful discourse, I think it really succeeded. Below is my 3 essays, art piece, and reflection.
