Why Animas?
“Be Yourself”. This is a phrase that everyone hears multiple times, especially at school. Yet, it almost never becomes fully achieved. You never come close to being yourself in school...ever. I was always scared of what people would do and say if they saw the real me, until I came to Animas. To tell you the truth, I never intended to come to Animas. Yet, my mom insisted I tried it and I decided that if I didn’t like it here, I could always transfer. Yet, as soon as I walked into Animas High School, I was greeted by an abundant of friendly faces, from teachers to upperclassmen! Who would have thought that the upperclassmen wouldn't “trashcan” you at first sight, but instead greeted you with smiles and compliments. To be honest, school feels like that awesome summer camp that you always looked forward to. I mean, you actually look forward to coming to school, am I crazy? No! The teachers are your friends. You call them by their first names; they make random jokes; you have their phone numbers and snapchats, and all at the same time they teach you awesome things and test your knowledge to the fullest extent! They really work hard on making sure that you have a tremendous life ahead of you and challenge you to do your best and create “beautiful work”. I really like the way the teachers love their job, so that they are always in a good mood and excited to interact with you. I also really like how Animas has shaped everyone to be extremely nice and accepting, so that when you make friends you know that it’s going to last forever. This really applies to me because my only friends went to DHS. I feared that I would never make any friends again and that I’d be that loner in the corner of the room. Animas has shown me that I can make new friends and that there was hope for me. I became more confident and finally revealed my true self to the world, I wasn't scared anymore. I cant wait to get further into this year and for the years upcoming. I can already tell that this is the school for me.
