Video Project - Zombies Eat Flesh!
In this project we were free to create any sort of video we wanted, as long as we used certain filming techniques, such as an over the shoulder shot, close-up shot, birds-eye-veiw shot, etc. I was pretty excited to find out we could do anything with our video, so I got with my group and we first brainstormed Ideas. We ended up choosing a zombie apocalypse movie theme. With this theme we started to plan how our movie would go and when we would film.
Q and As
Great art pieces rarely ever just happen, you need to plan before you start.
Q and As
- What is old, and what is new in any work of art?
- How is art used in everyday life?
- How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication?
- How does Material Culture influence artistic decisions?
- Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?)

Blackfish Political Cartoon Project. In this project we watch a documentary on Orcas called Blackfish, with the information from the movie we were to create a political cartoon on our point of view of the movie. So what I drew was a very sad Orca “bowing” with ropes tied to his fins and tail, and a smiling “Sea Cowboy” next to him. Attached to the strings tied to the Orca there is a hand labeled Sea World, on the sleeve, controlling the Orca as if it was a puppet show. In the background there is a cheering crowed, everyone looks happy except for the Orca. What Im trying to show in this is that Sea World is forcefully controlling the Orcas against their will, for entertainment. Its not right! They are torn from their families to do stuff against their will. Anyways, political cartoons are a very good way to share information artistically, they may be over exaggerated at times but that is how they get their point across. Its actually pretty impressive because viewing and creating art is two different things. When creating art you know what you are making and what it means, but when viewing you can only see what your mind says you do, it might not be the same thing as the artist intended. So to create art and have the viewer see it the way you do is very hard.

Cave Art Project
In this Project we started by going over some art history, then we began drawing prehistoric animals. I chose to draw the wolf and a horse, my two favorite animals. I started with drawing the tribal wolf with a pencil in my notebook, using the tribal wolf picture as a reference. I then scanned it into illustrator and did 6 image traces on it and got all these: (the first images). I felt that the image trace made my drawing look more digital and in a way it made it look cooler. I then started to work on my Cave horse drawing. So I ripped and crumpled up some brown paper to make it look like a cave wall. Then started drawing on it with pencil, using a horse picture as a reference. Then I darkened it with charcoal and colored it with pastels. I think it turned out to bee pretty good!
